Short URL, Allowing Users to Remember It Faster & Easier

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

URL is a common term we hear about these days. It can pertain to search engines, a company or business’ website, and so much more information that is related to the world wide web. For starters, let’s define the acronym. URL stands for Uniform Resource Locator. It has three uses: it tells your browser, regardless of what browser you are accustomed to, Mozilla, Internet explorer, Safari, to name a few, what protocol to use. Since there are websites that are secure, like banks, and non secure, like any normal website address that uses ‘http’. The URL also tells the web server, which page or website address the user want to go to, which is what the user types on the address bar. This is where KXK.ME comes in. Because there are company websites and business companies that have such long URLs, it will certainly make the user confused with the address to type in. Using KXK.ME, they can easily use their URL shortener, even allowing you to put in specific keywords embedded in your URL so typing and remembering it will not be a problem.

A short URL has less chances of being misspelled, less chances of being forgotten and most importantly, your user will immediately remember about it when trying to look for your website.

This is why most twitter users use KXK.ME because they can use their twitter URL shortener, allowing more and more people to follow them on their twitter account. The more followers, the more viewers you will be having. This is essentially more important especially for those with businesses and into sales and marketing.

Importance of SEO

Yet another article on the importance of SEO

The internet is probably filled with thousands of articles on the importance of SEO. Most companies are probably using SEO themselves to get a better page rank for their own article. Let me add another one to the list.

For those who came in late to the World Wide Web, let me tell you one thing. There is only one method to find information on the internet and that is a search engine.

SEO or search engine optimization is a set of tools and techniques that will ensure that your website gets better rankings in search engine listings.

So if you are selling website packages and a prospective customer looks for website makers, your website will show up first on the results page giving you the advantage over your competitors.

How and why?

Most people tend to think that SEO is a one time process which when completed will give you the top spot on search engines for the rest of your lifetime. That’s not true.

SEO is a continual process that requires intense market research, link analysis, keyword analysis and many more techniques that will ensure that your website will remain in focus all the time.

If you optimize your website and simply let it go, it will slide down automatically in the search engine rankings. And with it, your traffic will also go down considerably. This is one of the reasons why you need a professional SEO company to help you out.

The eye of the spider

It is a well known fact that content is king as far as SEO is concerned. But you need to look at your website through the eyes of a robot or a spider that search engines use to scan through your web pages looking for keywords etc.

When you have achieved that, consider half the battle won.

Search Engine Optimization Tips

Monday, February 16th, 2009

What is SEO?

SEO is the active practice of promoting a web site by improving internal and external aspects in order to increase the traffic the site receives from search engines. It is focused on website promotion by improving the volume and quality of traffic to a web site from search engines via natural (organic) search results for targeted keywords.

Search Engine Optimization Companies that practice SEO can vary; some have a highly specialized focus, while others take a broader and general approach. Optimizing a web site for search engines can require looking at so many unique elements that many Professional Search Engine Optimizers (SEO experts) consider themselves to be in the broad field of website optimization (since so many of those elements intertwine).

We have listed out some of the most essential Search Engine Optimization ethics that needs to be formulated for website promotion:

Directory Submission

Directory submission is a great source of links to the website. Submissions to web directories are the best place to start promoting a new site. Web directories offer links for free, for a fee or in exchange for a link.

Tips:

Always submit to relevant and most appropriate category Try to submit to a quality page If paid submission, then be sure to check the relevancy and quality of the link page If Reciprocal, then exchange link with similar PR or a page with higher PR.
Link Popularity

Link Building or back links are very important for optimizing the site on search engines. Google counts every back link as a vote delivered for your website but also considers the quality of the page linking to your website. So, only relevant and quality pages with less number of links should be preferred for Link building.

Tips:

Always choose relevant and quality pages for link building Free one way links are the best Pages that link to your website should be indexed with Google Pages that link to your website should be no more than 2 clicks away from the home page and should contain no more than 30 links on the page.
Social Bookmarking

Social Book Marking has become a very important strategy in the SEO process. Social bookmarking sites are “tag based”- which means you can “tag” them with keywords so your visitors that bookmark your site can find them easily later. Search engines when crawl, index these tags, as well as the link, so you are essentially getting free one-way links from high-traffic sites, with all of your keywords attached to them.

Tips:

Chose proper tags for your web listing Share your bookmarks with your friends and others Promote your bookmarks as well Comment on others bookmark and let others comment on yours
Keyword Research and Analysis

Keywords play the most important role when it comes to website optimization.
As search Engines need just the most informative and useful sites for their visitors, they prefer the sites containing content with the highest priority of the keywords being searched.

Expert Keyword Research is the cornerstone to a successful SEO.

Tips:

Always chose keywords relevant to your site’s theme Use multi-word phrases Research keywords specifically for each page Country specific Keyword Research Perform Effective Keyword Analysis Ongoing Keyword Research
Search Engine Friendly Design

Before starting search engine optimization process for the website, it is very important to make website Search Engine Optimization friendly. Making web site user friendly as well as Search engine friendly includes a few simple steps.

Make it simple Organize website Avoid Javascript and images Avoid scrolling

What is SEO? Simple SEO Definition in a Most Familiar Way

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the widely used term in the field of “Web Marketing”. I can surely say “SEO is the backbone of Online Marketing.”

I want to define the term SEO in a more familiar way by taking a very simple example. Suppose, having developed a new website for your company or business, you must be in the illusion that a website by itself will give you enhanced market visibility and lead to business growth, when actually you are operating in the same marketing environment as you previously were.

The reason behind this phenomenon is: when a surfer Googles for a specific service, he/she will enter the most relevant keyword related to that product/service and scan through for their desired content, generally just in the top 10-15 results. If your website hasn’t made it to this list, and that too, for the most relevant tags, its likely that your website will be ignored. It doesn’t matter how unique you have made it.

According to Google’s survey, If you are not in the first page results, you loose your 63% of potential business.

So, we can say “SEO is the technique by which we can optimize a website in accordance with search engine requirements.” SEO helps to drive in more relevant traffic to our website, thereby generating interest in your products & services which ultimately drive sales to increase the ROI (Return On Investment). So, First step towards SEO is your content should be more relevant and fresh. Because Google likes fresh content as we like fresh meal. :)

SEO Techniques – For SEO Content Writing

Friday, September 12th, 2008

Basic SEO

Before SEO content writing you need to remember and stay focused on what we do it for. Ranking number one in the search results rivals any and all marketing strategy there are, including social networking. Results not on page 2 lost between 60 to 80 percent there chance of being seen. SEO content writing includes blogs, articles, anything with writing.

SEO articles are articles that use SEO techniques to rank in search engines. Search engines sort content for there searcher by relevance. More pacifically they look at the sites authority, age, links, link juice, keywords and many other things when deciding relevance.

SEO is essentially marketing; Your SEO score will affect your SEO content writing by driving searchers to you for free.

Make sense:

Search engines have caught on SEO techniques like keyword spamming and nonsensical SEO articles that have been spun. After looking in to it I would never use SEO techniques like spinning articles because these companies use machines to spin it. It never makes a lick of sense, it often isn’t enough for ezine articles, price, and manual services don’t put much care in to it. Search engines do check for proper SEO content writing before posting this stuff.

SEO techniques:

In SEO content writing you need a minimum of 200 words of web copy. Search engines look for this when ranking you. Meta tags in your HTML coding and anchor text. Use keywords for both.

Keyword placement, ones at the beginning and end of all paragraphs, several times in the middle. Least one of your keyword phrases in your SEO articles title and select the right keywords.

SEO Basics – The 4 Golden Rules of Search Engine Optimization

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization is easier than most would like you to believe. There is a lot of jargon, so the simple truth of good, solid SEO is a mystery to many. However, I can show you a way to generate lots of extra traffic to your site while you remain in compliance with the Google Terms of Service agreement.

At the core, SEO is all about gaining a higher page rank on the big search engines. Your page rank is the end result of what you do, how you optimize your page, making it seem as relevant as possible to various search engine queries. At a very basic level, for the complete newbie, there are 4 rules you must follow in order to achieve your optimal page rankings. I call these the 4 Golden Rules of SEO.

SEO Rule Number 1 – Backlinks Are Your Best Friend

The number one rule of optimization in my opinion, is to gain as many links from outside of your website, pointing back to your targeted page, as you possibly can. It can be easy to gain a lot of backlinks but you must ensure that you are not spamming other sites in the midst of your efforts. Two of the most popular methods of backlinking are article and directory submissions.

The single most popular and, perhaps, most effective method of backlink building is done through Article Submission. You simply write articles on the subject of your website and submit them to ezines. These ezine sites allow you to create a resource box where you can write a little about yourself, your knowledge, and make a pitch to the readers to visit your site. You can use the very powerful Text Anchor Links, meaning using selected keywords that you want to rank for on a particular page, and these text anchor links will factor heavily in your search engine rankings.

For Directory Submissions, you can submit a link to your page to thousands of different directories, usually consisting of a brief description of your site, a list of keywords, and you also must select a category in which your site will be placed. Manually, this can be tedious but it can also be rewarding. A lot of Webmasters elect to go the automated directory submission route. It makes the process easier but, in the end, most directories do not like automated submissions.

SEO Rule Number 2 – Update Your Site Regularly

While you are busy building links back to your site, you will need to update your site as often as possible. Search Engine Optimization at its’ best would suggest that you update your site each day. However, that can be a little demanding when you consider all the other tasks you will have to complete to get a high ranking, so it would be okay as long as your site is updated at least once a week. A real simple way to update your site regularly, without having to write new articles each day, is to go into an article that has already been published, maybe change a few words, and publish it again. That will save you some time as well as convince the search engine to visit your site more often.

Another way to think of it is this:

A search engine will visit your site, crawl around, and leave to report what is on your site. If the robot keeps visiting your site and leaves, with nothing new to report, it will begin to visit your site less frequently. On the other hand, if the search engine crawls your site, always has something new to report, then it will visit your site much more often. This is what you want. You want to convince the search engines to come to crawl your site several times a day. This can only be accomplished by updating your site regularly.

SEO Golden Rule Number 3 – Your Website Is Like Your Home

The third Golden Rule Of Search Engine Optimization is the structure of your website. You can think of your website like you do your house. How big is it? How easy is it to navigate? How strong is the foundation? When a search engine robot visits your site, it’s not going to hang out for a while, drink some coffee, chat, and then leave. It’s going to come and be gone in a matter of seconds. Ensure that you have links to your inner pages on the main home page of your site. These links are like doors to the other rooms in your site and the search engines should have easy access to these doors at all times.

You can think of the H1 and H2 meta title tags as like your front door. Make sure that you use these tools effectively. The H1 and H2 tags are what give the search engines a first impression of what your site is going to be about.

Your main objective, in search engine optimization, is to rank for certain keywords that web surfers would type in while trying to find the product or service you offer. That’s why it’s crucial for you to make sure you place these keywords within your site frequently. Not so often that it doesn’t make sense or looks spammy, but you want to make sure that your chosen keywords are on the pages of your site. You probably want your keywords to be 3 to 6 percent of a given article.

And lastly, on your site, you may want to link to internal pages with chosen keywords. If, in one of your articles, you type a keyword that relates to an article you had previously written, you should use that keyword to link to that other article. Text anchor links are, while not as powerful as they once were, are still one of the most powerful things you can have in your site.

SEO Golden Rule Number 4 – Content Really Is King

If you have been doing ANY research on search engine optimization, you have probably become real familiar with this term. Content really is king because it’s the foundation of the house you build online. If you do not have useful information, services, or products, your visitors may visit but will never return. You will naturally gain a lot of links from your visitors, saving you a lot of painstaking work, but only if they find what you offer to be helpful. It’s tempting to take the easy way, and offer a bunch of copy and pasted garbage, but you will find that good and solid UNIQUE content is what makes a successful website.

Now, don’t fear if you’re not any good at writing articles as there are many sites that you can utilize to hire a writers to create articles for you. You will usually need to pay a few bucks for these articles but, considering it will be unique quality content, the value of using these freelance writers can be priceless.

Understand that, while search engine optimization will not take forever and requires a little patience on your part, it can take a while before you see your efforts paying off. However, when that time comes, you will be on top of the world because your site will last. Following the 4 Golden Rules Of Search Engine Optimization, you have built a quality website and, perhaps most importantly, you have done it the right way.
